Margaret Spooner 1833 - 1913

Margaret Spooner was a twin.

She and her twin, Charles, were born in 1833. They lived at Smeetham Hall with their parents Robert and Margaret, plus siblings and servants.

In 1842 Margaret’s family was active in the celebrations for Prince of Wales’ christening.

Margaret never married and seems to have spent her life staying with various relatives and living on private means.

In 1861 she was living in Smeetham Hall with her sister Eliza. Also there, were her brother-in -law, George Coote, her nieces and nephews aged 6,4,2,9 months plus twins aged 5.

Margaret then moved on to Ballingdon to live with her mother and niece and their servants

By 1901 she was in Great Cornard with her spinster niece and other family members. As always they had servants.

In the years before her death Margaret moved to Halstead. Aged 77 she was living in a household of three spinsters in The Croft, High St, Halstead.  They lived on private means and continued to have servants.

Margaret died on 3rd June 1913 and her niece arranged a fine stone in Bulmer churchyard.
