Charlotte was already married to James Tuffin at the census of 1841. They had two daughters, Maria and Amelia.

By 1851 they also had further children:  Alfred, John and Emily. James was an agricultural labourer and Charlotte was a charwoman.

Charlotte was widowed during the 1870s. There is no record of her husband’s headstone at Bulmer.

Charlotte continued as a charwoman well into her late 60s. When she died in 1887 her headstone was provided by a grateful employer:  Rev Raymond had the stone erected with the words:
